|~ Trevor Henderson, introducing the creature.|
Mother Superior is the presumed leader and mother figure of The Sisters of the Ever-Sharpening Blade (Also known as The Sisters of the Cuts). Her twisted and disturbing appearance is akin to her daughters, although covered completely in red. While not much is known about her, it's likely that her power is similar to her daughters, only more dangerous.
Mother Superior depicts a tall female humanoid figure, walking gracefully across a misty forest full of dead trees. She is very similar appearance-wise to her disturbing daughters, except for a few noticeable differences.
The most glaring difference between them are their clothing appearances. All of the clothing worn by Mother Superior is completely bright red in, from her veil to her dress. According to Trevor, this is because her clothes are completely dyed in human blood.
The material that Mother Superior's dress is made of is seemingly much softer in texture compared to The Sisters, as it is most likely made of cotton. The design of her dress is also unique to her alone, as none of her daughters seem to have any similar dress designs.
The torso part of her dress has long sleeves like The Sisters'. It also has fluffy ends, giving it the appearance of a sort of sweater. It is heavily creased vertically. The lower half of the dress resembles more of a gown, as it has multiple flounces on it. There are four to be exact, and each have multiple layers of fabric on them. The lower half of the dress seems to be more pronounced on the backside, where the flounces are located.
Mother Superior also wears veil, much like The Sisters. This veil is adorned neatly on her head, which actually appears to be just a large arrangement of knife-like blades. These blades are much more visible than the Sisters' on account of the fact that some of the blades also seem to pierce her veil, likely due tot the softer fabric.
Mother Superior's head blades are arranged more like a sea urchin's spikes rather than the plant thorns-like arrangement of her daughters. This leads to her having a much rounder and shorter head than the Sisters, although she is still taller. The way her head is shaped also makes it appear as though she is always facing you, even if she is not.
Unlike her daughters, Mother Superior also seems to always wear gloves, and is generally more concealed than her daughters. This is likely due to her strange-looking skin, which appears to be made of a jet-black colored material that is extremely spiky. While this strange skin was observed on the The Sisters as well, they only seem to have the skin on the head, rather than their entire body.
Finally, while her accurate height is still currently unknown, you can see that she is taller than the height of where the first branches on the dead trees are, which may suggest she is anywhere between 6-8 feet tall, definitely taller than her daughters, which are about the size of an average woman.
Unlike her daughters, very little is actually known about Mother Superior's behavior, as Trevor has only ever posted a single image of her, with little information. Even though not much has been revealed, we can make some assumptions and theories on her, based on what we already know about The Sisters.
It is very likely that Mother Superior would behave somewhat similarly to The Sisters, although her presumed authority over them and somewhat graceful movement, as seen in the image, implies that she is less erratic and more relaxed with her actions. Although, this probably changes once she gets violent.
Her violent desires, tendencies and malicious intents are most likely even greater than the already intense personalities of The Sisters, so provoking her would almost certainly result in a painful and gruesome death. This violence would lend her to rank very high in the Pain Scale, which would be a 10, like her daughters. And much like The Sisters, looking under her veil guarantees you an even worse death than just provoking them. It is also possible that seeing her skin in general would cause this effect, as she seems more keen on concealing herself than The Sisters.
It is very unlikely that Mother Superior can be summoned using the Moth Brooch, like her daughters. She would likely not be keen on being given orders and commands, preferring to do her own things while her daughters perform the commands of the people. This is further evident by the fact that there have been no images of Mother Superior found in any known places where one of The Sisters were summoned.
She was also not worshiped by anyone, unlike her daughters which gained cults and followings of their own, as they were considered some sort of deities. If she truly were able to be summoned, the cults would likely worship her instead of The Sisters, but it seems like they did not even know about her existence.
It is unknown if Mother Superior is also in a state of 'mourning', like her daughters (which is why they wear the veils, other than to conceal their blades). She has likely existed for far longer than The Sisters, which have been around for over 500 years. The origins of her and the Sisters are unknown, but they may have come from The Void, like Siren Head.
Like her behavior, not much is confirmed about her abilities, although they would likely be similar to The Sisters, except more powerful.
Like the Sisters, she would be able to pull out any sort of bladed weapon from under her veil, no matter how large, suggesting that she (and the Sisters) have some sort of non-euclidean properties. She would also be very proficient in handling these blades, and use them to the fullest extent to kill her victims as violently as possible, using a number of stabs, slices and incision to inflict as much pain as possible.
Also like her daughters, looking beneath her veil would be asking for certain death, as it would somehow cause the looker to die a slow and painful death. It is possible that looking at her skin in general would cause this effect, as her skin is entirely made of a similar material as The Sisters' heads.
Being the leader of The Sisters, she could probably be able summon and command them at will, as if she had the moth brooch, although this is not confirmed.
Like The Sisters, her human-like appearance and skin-concealing clothing may give her the ability to somewhat disguise herself as a normal human. She may also be able to speak, though very rarely. While her voice is unknown, it may be similar to her daughters, which are described as razors violently keening upon each other to form human words. She likely has human-like intelligence.
All of these special abilities, skills, her intelligence, and larger-than-average size would prove her to be a very formidable creature. An aggressive encounter with her would be extremely difficult to escape from, and ultimately fatal.
- Trevor has stated that people had previously mistaken her for one of her daughters, mentioning a rumor of a Red Sister, which turned out to be Mother Superior.
- Like her daughters, her place in the creature Pain Scale is likely quite high, considering their love for violence. It’s possible that they rank at a 10, as they seem to go out of their way to inflict even more pain to their victims than necessary.
- She may be one of the few creatures that can actually speak human languages.
- She is the second canon creature to be a confirmed parent of another existing creature, with the first being Big Charlie.
- It is possible that she also accepts offerings like her daughters, but this is not confirmed.
- She and her daughters are some of Trevor’s confirmed oldest creatures, as they have been around for over 500 years, though they pale in comparison to Siren Head and Long Horse, who have been estimated to have existed since the Stone Age.
- It is unknown if the Ever-Sharpening Blade is also present under her veil, or if it is exclusive the The Sisters.
- It is unknown what Mother Superior actually does, as she does not seem to be able to be called upon by people using the moth brooch.
- It is possible that she merely exists to order around and take care of her daughters, but this is unlikely, she may have some other unknown intent or purpose.
